The Woman Of Worth mentorship programme is an exciting programme where business woman mentor the young future business woman of today.

The graduation ceremony for all graduates in our region was held on the 19th September 2017 and Phumla Mjoni – our Key Account Executive at XL Bay Travel – took on the role of mentor to Xoliswa Makabele. Phumla invited some of our fabulous XL Bay Travel clients to share the moment.

diana davis pre-school

The school was founded by the late Dianna Davis to enable the working mothers of the Walmer Location to drop their pre-school children off and fetch them after work.

It is a fully operational pre-school that is fully dependant on outside funding and donations. Mandela Day was the date of adoption of this institution and XL staff provided fresh fruit, breakfast cereal, some sweets and juice. The home staff, together with the travel staff played with the kids; entertained them with song and dance.

XL Algoa Bay donated stationery as it was much needed – this community is very poor and some of these kids only survive on the porridge served in the morning. The school hosts 147 little pupils aged between 3 and 6 years. The lady in the photo is the school principal: Mrs Lukwe with the little ones.

Mandela Day

XL Bay'S 67 MINUTES: 2018

Sinethemba Children’s Care Centre is a home situated in Korsten, founded by Signoria Qholani from kwa-Dwesi for the underprivileged, orphans, bush-dwellers(destitute), abandoned and abused children.

Signoria started the home in 1995. Signoria had been a street kid for 10 years which after she was taken in by different foster parents.

The hardships of being destitute as a child motivated her to build a home for the needy, as she never wished her ordeals on someone else.

Sinethemba now has a committee of six members, of which all members are volunteers. They also take in infants and children up to the age of 18.

Many take themselves to Sinethemba, while others are brought in by neighbours, police, hospitals, relatives and social workers.
